In general, CFUs are a scientifically accepted unit of measure for bacterial probiotics. Bacteria-based probiotics often claim a specific number of CFUs for comparison between other bacterial probiotics. Unlike the vast majority of bacterial probiotics, Florastor contains a yeast probiotic. The average size of a single probiotic yeast cell is approximately ten times the size of a single probiotic bacterial cell. Because our probiotic yeast cells are very different from probiotic bacteria cells, Florastor probiotics are not measured in the number of colony forming units, we measure Florastor in milligrams instead. Each Florastor capsule or stick contains 250 mg of Saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-745.

No, Florastor probiotics do not cause or exacerbate a vaginal yeast infection of Candida origin. Taken orally, Florastor transits through the gastrointestinal tract and does not enter the urogenital system.
